Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, and protect your personal data when you use V Social.

1. Who We Are

V Social (“the Platform”) is operated by Just FOMO LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16533971) with its registered office at 50 Princes Street, Ipswich, England, IP1 1RJ.

In this Privacy Policy, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to Just FOMO LTD. “You” and “your” refer to any individual who accesses or uses the Platform.

We are the data controller for the personal data we process. If you have any questions, you can contact us at legal@v.social.

2. Data We Collect

2.1 Data you provide

  • Account information — email address, password, username, display name, date of birth.
  • Profile information — biography, avatar image, header image, website URL, and linked social accounts (e.g. X / Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Twitch).
  • Content — posts, clips, videos, live streams, live chat messages, comments, replies, reposts, direct messages, and any media (images, GIFs, video files) you upload.
  • Payment information — when you send a Super Chat or make a purchase, payment details are processed by our third-party payment provider. We store a transaction reference, the amount, and currency; we do not store your full card number.
  • Communications — messages you send to other users on the Platform, including text and media attachments.
  • Moderation reports — content and context you submit when reporting another user or piece of content.

2.2 Data collected automatically

  • Device & browser data — device type, operating system, browser type and version, screen resolution, and language settings.
  • Usage data — pages visited, features used, content viewed, view duration, interactions (likes, reposts, bookmarks), and search queries.
  • Video analytics — play counts, unique viewers, watch time, and video completion rates, collected by our video infrastructure provider.
  • Log data — IP address, access times, referring URLs, and error logs.
  • Push notification tokens — device tokens for delivering mobile and web push notifications.

2.3 Data from third parties

  • Third-party sign-in — if you sign in via a third-party authentication provider, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from that provider.

3. How We Use Your Data

  • Provide and operate the Platform — create and maintain your account, display your content, enable messaging and live streaming, and process payments.
  • Personalise your experience — curate your feed, recommend creators, communities, and content relevant to your interests.
  • Communicate with you — send transactional emails (account verification, password resets), notifications about activity on your content, and service announcements.
  • Ensure safety and security — detect spam, abuse, and policy violations; enforce our Terms of Service; rate-limit requests; and protect against unauthorised access.
  • Improve the Platform — analyse aggregated usage patterns, diagnose technical issues, and develop new features.
  • Legal obligations — comply with applicable laws, respond to lawful requests from authorities, and establish or defend legal claims.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

We process your personal data on the following grounds:

  • Contract — processing necessary to perform our contract with you (the Terms of Service), such as maintaining your account and delivering the Platform’s features.
  • Legitimate interests — improving the Platform, preventing fraud, and ensuring security, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
  • Consent — where you have given explicit consent, for example opting in to push notifications or marketing emails. You may withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legal obligation — where processing is required to comply with applicable law.

5. How We Share Your Data

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only as described below:

  • Other users — your public profile, posts, clips, videos, and live streams are visible to other users. Direct messages are visible only to the participants of a conversation.
  • Service providers — we use trusted third-party processors to operate the Platform, including providers of video hosting and streaming, payment processing, authentication, voice and video call infrastructure, media file storage, email delivery, web hosting, and content search functionality. These providers only process data on our behalf and in accordance with our instructions.
  • Legal requirements — we may disclose data if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
  • Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred as part of the transaction.

6. Cookies and Local Storage

We use the following cookies and browser storage:

  • Session cookie — an essential, HTTP-only cookie that keeps you signed in. This cookie is strictly necessary and cannot be disabled.
  • Authentication cookies — short-lived cookies (up to 5 minutes) used during the sign-in flow with a third-party provider.
  • Local storage — we store non-sensitive preferences locally in your browser, such as sidebar state, recent search queries, recent emojis, and post drafts. This data never leaves your device.

We do not use third-party advertising or analytics cookies. We do not serve ads on the Platform.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

7.1 Retention periods

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Platform’s services. Specific retention periods include:

  • Account data — retained for the lifetime of your account and deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
  • Content — posts, clips, videos, live streams, comments, and messages are deleted within 30 days of account deletion or when you individually delete them.
  • Transaction records — retained for up to 7 years after the transaction date as required by tax and financial regulations.
  • Log and analytics data — retained in aggregate or anonymised form for up to 24 months for service improvement and security purposes.
  • Moderation records — retained for up to 12 months for safety and legal compliance.

7.2 Account deletion

You may delete your account at any time through your account settings. When you delete your account:

  • Your profile, posts, clips, videos, comments, and messages will be permanently deleted within 30 days.
  • Your username will be released and may become available for others to use.
  • Media files (images, videos) stored on our servers will be permanently removed.
  • Backup copies may persist for up to 90 days before being automatically purged.

7.3 Right to erasure

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to request erasure of your personal data (“right to be forgotten”). You can exercise this right by:

  • Deleting your account through your account settings (this will remove all associated data as described above).
  • Contacting us at legal@v.social to request deletion of specific data or your entire account.

We will action erasure requests within 30 days. In certain cases, we may be unable to delete specific data where we have a legal obligation to retain it (for example, financial transaction records or data subject to an ongoing legal proceeding). If this applies, we will inform you and explain the reason.

7.4 Residual data

After deletion, content you have posted publicly may remain visible in cached or archived versions of the Platform held by third-party search engines or web archives. We will make reasonable efforts to remove it but cannot guarantee removal from services outside our control. Anonymised or aggregated data that can no longer be linked to you may be retained indefinitely for analytical purposes.

8. International Data Transfers

Some of our service providers operate outside the United Kingdom. When we transfer personal data internationally, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA), Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), or reliance on an adequacy decision, in compliance with UK GDPR.

9. Your Rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification — request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Erasure — request deletion of your personal data (“right to be forgotten”).
  • Restriction — request that we restrict processing of your data in certain circumstances.
  • Portability — receive your data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
  • Object — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at legal@v.social. We will respond within one month.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

10. Age Requirement

The Platform is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will promptly suspend or delete their account and associated data. If you believe a minor is using the Platform, please contact us at legal@v.social.

11. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including encryption of data in transit (TLS), secure token storage on mobile devices, rate limiting, session invalidation controls, and access restrictions. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by posting a notice on the Platform or by email. Your continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
