The city irrigated by an ancient civilisation
One of the most tree-lined cities in the world — and that's no accident. Mendoza only exists thanks to trees: tunnels of poplars, tipas and pines protect the city from the sun and arid climate. But the real miracle began long before that: with the Huarpe indigenous people. They created the acequias, canals that still irrigate the city today. The acequias are a living infrastructure: they distribute water from the river, irrigate trees and cool the city — and have been doing so for centuries. #Argentina #Mendoza
