Products may be labelled ‘not recommended for human consumption’ in Texas
In Texas, a bill has been passed requiring warning labels on products such as Doritos and M&Ms, stating that they contain ingredients ‘not recommended for human consumption’. This measure, which will come into force in 2027, aims to warn consumers about additives and colourings that are banned or restricted in other countries, such as Canada, the European Union, Australia and the United Kingdom. The law is part of the #MakeAmericaHealthyAgain movement, led by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and seeks to increase transparency regarding ultra-processed products.
