Carjacking failed
On February 7, 2026, in Santiago, Chile, a motorist escaped a carjacking attempt on a highway off-ramp. Criminals blocked the road and jumped out of their vehicle armed to attack him, but the driver accelerated and struck one of them to get away. The incident, captured on a dashcam, is part of a series of similar attacks known as 'encerronas,' which are becoming increasingly frequent in the area.
