Anthropic has sued to stop the Pentagon from blacklisting the company after a clash over how its AI could be used by the military.
Reuters reports the dispute centers on Anthropic refusing to let Claude be used for autonomous weapons and domestic surveillance, while the Pentagon says those restrictions could interfere with military operations. Anthropic argues the move is unlawful retaliation, violates free speech and due process, and could wipe billions from 2026 revenue if the blacklist spreads across government.
