Launceston is about to turn into a real-life board game. A life-size Monopoly board display is set to appear at Cataract Gorge Reserve on March 25 to celebrate the launch of a new Launceston-themed Monopoly edition.
The giant board will showcase local landmarks instead of traditional Monopoly properties, with places like Cataract Gorge, City Park, the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery, and the Tamar Valley wine region potentially featured.
Locals and visitors will be able to walk the oversized board, join the celebrations, and even meet the iconic Mr Monopoly character during the special launch event.
Launceston becomes the second Tasmanian city to receive its own Monopoly edition after Hobart’s version launched in 2021.
The event highlights the city’s growing tourism appeal and puts some of northern Tasmania’s most famous attractions on the global board-game map.
