A body has been recovered from Hobart’s waterfront after a man was reported missing from a vessel docked near Sullivans Cove in the early hours of the morning.
Emergency services were alerted around 355 am, after crew members reported the man believed to be in his early 20s had apparently gone overboard.
Police and rescue divers launched an immediate search near Castray Esplanade, with crews combing the water for several hours.
The man’s body was later located in the harbour shortly before 745 am.
Tasmania Police have confirmed an investigation is now underway as authorities work to determine the circumstances that led to the incident.
The man’s identity has not yet been released while next of kin are notified.
