When fuel spikes, everything moves higher freight, farming, groceries, seafood, deliveries, the lot. Reports this week say the government has emergency rationing plans on the books, but federal ministers are also saying rationing is not currently being considered and remains a last resort.
That alone should worry people. Australians do not want excuses, panic, or band-aid politics. They want lower costs, stronger supply security, and a government that looks prepared before everyday life gets even more expensive.
