DeepMind’s AlphaEvolve Achieves Breakthrough in Protein Design for Drug Discovery
Google DeepMind has unveiled AlphaEvolve, an evolution of its AlphaFold system that can now autonomously design entirely novel proteins with custom functions for targeted drug therapies. In initial trials, the AI-designed proteins showed 40% higher binding efficiency than traditional methods, dramatically shortening the path from idea to lab-tested candidates in biotech.
